"HER"STORY
Six women started the journey to find an inclusive, welcoming greek organization together in the Fall of 2018. After being a part of a multicultural organization interest group, it became clear that what the determined women wanted was not yet created. Four of the women decided to move onto other paths, graduating and going off on other adventures but two women stayed true to their mission and founded Lambda Mu Omega.
On January 30, 2019, Fubei “Mǔdān” Lubin and Eden “Xiomara” Fernandez founded Lambda Mu Omega with the intention of creating an inclusive, service oriented sorority that welcomes women of all backgrounds, abilities and financial situations to take part. After being a part of organizations in the past and seeing the impact collective group work can do, the two founders decided on creating a sorority that focused on combating social issues in the area and giving a safe space for women to gather and flourish.
The founders swore to continue on their journey to seeing Lambda Mu Omega come to be, even with the barriers put in place by the traditional system and the immense work it took to get to where they are today. Lambda Mu Omega is independent of traditional Greek but is in the process of Student Association chartering to be integrated into the Binghamton University community. The founders looked to recruit and welcome women who are determined, passionate and aim to fulfill the goals of Lambda Mu Omega.
